"Thermostat.....or Thermometer"

I forgot now where I heard this last week, but I heard someone say we should be like a thermostat....setting the atmosphere around us. This morning I was reminded of that when I went into my favorite breakfast spot. As the gentleman behind the counter and I were engaged in a conversation about speaking and thinking positive......he said........"Paula, rather you know it or not, there's something about you that when others are around you, they want to do better.....even me"! Well little does he want to admit (he's a Muslim) or know....that that "something" is THE POWER AND ANOINTING..........through Jesus Christ by Holy Spirit....that God has Graciously place on and in my life!!

Now, it's not that I'm puffing myself up because no man should "think highly of himself than he ought to think" (Romans 12:3)....because....I GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY and boldly say like Paul "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by Faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)

It's always been one of my desires that when others see me.....they see Christ who lives within me. Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and Glorify your Father which is in Heaven." God gets The Glory out of all we do.....that's why it's important that as Believers we always have to remember.....we "walk by Faith and not by sight"! (2 Corinthians 2:5)

We should operate like thermostats.....setting the atmosphere around us and not like a thermometer which goes up and down according to it's environment or atmosphere. The unbelievers are watching! They are watching and listening to how we talk....they are watching how we react...especially when we are faced with challenges and adversity. They are even watching how we respond to how they treat us! We should not allow how we feel or the circumstances surrounding us to detect our actions and thoughts!

People of God.....GOD WANTS TO BRING US INTO A HIGHER CALLING BUT HE CAN'T UNTIL WE DIE TO SELF AND SEE OURSELVES AS CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST....GOD WANTS US IN THAT PLACE WHERE WE WALK LIKE CHRIST....TALK LIKE CHRIST.............BELIEVE LIKE HE BELIEVED....JESUS HIMSELF SAID THAT GREATER WORKS SHALL WE DO THAN HE DID......WE WERE MADE IN HIS IMAGE AFTER HIS LIKENESS....WE ARE THE ONLY IMAGE OF CHRIST SOME PEOPLE WILL EVER SEE......WHERE EVER CHRIST WENT...THE PEOPLE WENT RUNNING TO BE IN HIS PRESENCE......WE SET THE ATMOSPHERE OF PRAISE AROUND US....WE SET THE ATMOSPHERE OF WORSHIP AROUND US.....WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO TOUCH THE LIVES OF OTHERS THROUGH CHRIST......WE CAN'T GO ON OUR FEELINGS.....WE CAN'T BE SWAYED BY OUR CIRCUMSTANCES......WE MUST SET THE ATMOSPHERE OF EXPECTANCY....PRAISE AND HOPE......WE SET THE ATMOSPHERE WHERE OTHERS DESIRE TO TASTE AND SEE THAT THE LORD IS GOOD.....OH PEOPLE OF GOD....WHEN WE SET THE ATMOSPHERE....LIKE THE JAILER ASKED PAUL AND SILAS....WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED....IN SETTING THE ATMOSPHERE AROUND US....LIVES WILL BE CHANGED......HEARTS WILL RETURN TO CHRIST....WHEN WE SET THE ATMOSPHERE....THE SICK WILL BE HEALED....BROKEN HEARTS WILL BE MENDED.....OUR FAMILY WILL BEGIN TO ALIGN THEIR FAITH WITH OURS......OUR BOSSES WILL BEGIN TO DO THINGS THEY NORMALLY DON'T DO FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES AND OTHERS WILL BE BLESSED BECAUSE WE HAVE SET THE ATMOSPHERE FOR BLESSINGS TO FLOW......WHEN WE SET THE ATMOSPHERE......THE PRAYER OF JABEZ ALLOWS GOD TO ENLARGE OUR TERRITORY...WHEN WE SET THE ATMOSPHERE...WE DECLRAE AND DECREE A THING AT IT IS SO.....HOLY SPIRIT BEGINS TO MOVE....OPERATE AND FLOW IN A WAY THAT INSTEAD OF OTHERS TALKING ABOUT THE MIDAS TOUCH...THEY WILL CONFESS AND KNOW.......I'VE BEEN INTHE PRESENCE AND GOD.....I'VE BEEN TOUCHED......AND IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE HANDS OF THE LORD.....GLORRRYYY.....I BLESS HIM TODAY PEOPLE OF GOD....I BLESS HIM!!!!! "You're On The Winning Side"

"So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen." Matthew 20:16

I saw a classic example of the first ending up being last on Cupcake Wars! Just to give a very brief description of the show.....there are a total of 3 rounds and 4 competitors. Each competitor is asked to bake specialty cupcakes and during the first 2 rounds one competitor is sent away. The last 2 remaining competitors square off in the final round for a chance to showcase their cupcakes at a major event and also win a Grand Prize of $10,000.

Now there were 3 women and 1 man. The man I thought was just not a good sport at all. He couldn't just finish his cupcakes in the first round and focus on himself....nooooooo.....he had to make comments and poke jabs at the women because he thought they had taken longer than he did. He started bragging about how good his cupcakes were and that he just knew he was going to win the competition.....NOT!

Well "Mr. I Know I Got It Like That" was gone in the 1st round. The one woman who counted herself out the competition before the judges ever tasted her cupcakes....she went before the judges in tears because she felt her cupcakes were not fully cooked.......but guess what.....and even she said it herself....she didn't know how...but by the time the judges tasted her cupcakes....it was like a miracle had taken place....the cakes were fully cooked......who figure! Her cupcakes were fully cooked...the judges loved them and hers were the best of all.....check this out....she not only won each round as the judge's favorite...but she ended up winning the $10,000 prize and she got the opportunity to showcase her cupcakes at a celebrity golf tournament!!! If I could have said something to the guy before he left in the 1st round....I would have given him a dose of his own medicine and said....."Na na na boo boo.....who's winning now"!

People of God.....the enemy wants us to feel and think we are in last place.....like God has turned His back on us.......he wants us to think that others in the world are way ahead of us....like the unsaved are being Blessed and that God has overlooked His Children.......we know the devil is a liar.............remember the story of the tortoise and the hare......DO NOT FRET BECAUSE OTHERS APPEAR AS IF THEY ARE PROSPERING........DON'T LOOK AT WHAT THEY HAVE AND YOU DON'T HAVE......THEY WILL SOON BE CUT DOWN LIKE THE GRASS AND WITHER AS THE GREEN HERB.....DON'T WORRY ABOUT SATAN'S TAUNTS AND HIS JABS AT YOU...GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU THAN HE THAT IS IN THIS WORLD....DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT WOMAN/MAN THAT HAS A HUSBAND/WIFE AND YOU DON'T.....YOU DON'T KNOW THE ABUSE OR TORTURE SHE/HE MIGHT BE GOING THROUGH......YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WENT THROUGH TO GET WHAT THEY HAVE......YOU WAIT ON THE LORD.....ALL GOOD AND PERFECT GIFTS COMES FROM ABOVE.......GOD SEES YOUR TEARS....HE KNOWS YOUR STRUGGLES.......HE HASN'T FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU......YOU JUST STAY FOCUSED ON YOUR TASK AT HAND......DON'T WORRY.....YOU JUST KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE.....GREAT IS HIS REWARD....YOU WILL BE REWARDED GREATLY....YOU WILL INHERIT THE EARTH....YOU WILL REAP PEACE AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO STAND BEFORE KINGS.........ALWAYS REMEMBER......THE RACE IS NOT GIVEN TO THE SWIFT NOR THE BATTLE TO THE STRONG..........BUT TO THOSE WHO ENDURE......YOU ENDURE.......CONTINUE IN RIGHTEOUSNESS......STAY YOUR COURSE......AND YOU WILL TRIUMPH IN JESUS' NAME.......YOU HAVE OVERCOME.......BECAUSE YOU ARE ON THE WINNING SIDE!!!!!

"All God Wants Is Yes"

It was about 4:30am when I heard "Paula"! I didn't respond with a "huh"....I didn't say anything....I just got up and headed for Prayer. After I Prayed.....and as Holy Spirit often moves.....I opened the Bible right to Jeremiah Chapter 37. My eyes immediately focused on verse 17 which I had highlighted in the Bible ".....Is there any word from the Lord."

As I read on and on....I took note of a couple of Scriptures that said "....Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison." (Jeremiah 37:21 and Jeremiah 38:13). Now I was sitting here....trying to figure out....Lord what do You want me to talk about......I started searching and searching reading about Jeremiah's plight in jail......trying to figure out.....should the topic of the Motivation be "Stuck With No Place To Go"....this Sister was Praying hard y'all......all sorts of ideas were running through my mind but guess what......Jeremiah was not the only one stuck with no place to go.....I was literally stuck with NO Word from The Lord other than....."go back to bed"!

Probably 5 minutes after I laid back down......I heard......."when I called you....your response should have been "YES LORD" then just as clear.......I heard Shekinah Glory's song "Yes". I went on Youtube to look for the song.......and it wasn't until I heard Part 2 that Holy Spirit really began to minister to me personally! Perhaps one day I can speak about Jeremiah's imprisonment but for now.....all Holy Spirit is allowing me to say today People of God is......ALL GOD WANTS IS YES!!

"Persevere"

Okay I'll piggy back or as they say.....expound on The Word my cousin Minister LaKisha texted today:

"You need to persevere so that when you have done the Will of God, you will receive what He has promised." Hebrews 10:36 (NIV)

Dictionary meaning of per·se·vere (pûr s -vîr ): To persist in or remain constant to a purpose, idea, or task in the face of obstacles or discouragement.

When I look at the word persevere...for me....it's not only a challenge to spell it…...but to actually carry out its meaning…....well that's 100 times more challenging....especially in the midst of a crisis....obstacle or discouragement!

I remember after I went to my Daddy and asked for forgiveness........I asked him how did he do it....how did he get through all those years knowing that his very own knuckle head daughter......(that’s me talking)who lived one bridge away from him....how did he make it knowing I shut him out of my life? Well my loving and forgiving Daddy said......."I always knew one day you would come around." DADDY….that was more than one day….that was 42 YEARS!!!! Talk about persevering!!!! Thank God for Jesus in his life because my Daddy remained constant in his Prayers and thoughts that one day I would come around! Every time Daddy answers my phone calls…..the first thing he says is “hello my Dearest Darling Daughter”…….you should see my face when he says that…..I light up like a barn fire!!!

Meditate on this: "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in Heaven give good things to them that ask Him?" Matthew 7:11

People of God....I know today some of you might be facing challenges.....obstacles or discouraging situations….....or even rejection……PERSEVERE! REMAIN CONSTANT IN THAT PURPOSE……IDEA OR TASK HOWEVER DIFFICULT IT MAY BE……REMAIN CONSTANT BY STANDING AND SPEAKING THE WORD OF GOD….FOCUS ON HIS PROMISES……CONFESS HIS PROMISES…..REMAIN STEADFAST….DON’T WAIVER…..REMAIN CONSTANT IN HOPE….ALTHOUGH YOUR SITUATION MAY SEEM IMPOSSIBLE…..REMEMBER WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE…. DO NOT BECOME WEARY….DO NOT FAINT….. ..YOU WILL REAP IF YOU FAINT NOT…..YOU WILL INHERIT THE PROMISES OF GOD…….. YES THAT SITUATION HURTS…..YES THAT SITUATION STINKS WORSE THAN LAZARUS DID 3 DAYS IN THE GRAVE…..BUT PERSEVERE ANYHOW……….LET PATIENCE HAVE IT’S PERFECT WORK IN YOU….GOD HAS A PLAN AND PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE……GO WIT THE FLOW…… STICK IT OUT……GOD IS SO FAITHFUL AND HE LOVES YOU SO MUCH…..YOU ALREADY KNOW ALL THINGS ARE WORKING TOGETHER FOR YOUR GOOD…SO ALLOW GOD TO BE GLORIFIED IN YOUR SITUATION….LET HIS WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN….PERSEVERE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS…..PERSEVERE!!!!!

"Holy Spirit To The Rescue"

"But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My Name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26

I couldn't believe my little child.....Quanny Quan was about to leave the project home that I....oh no I mean.....WE.....worked so hard to complete! I wonder about kids sometimes....particularly this child.....are all of them so easily distracted......were we like this this when were were children? Doesn't he realize we will not always be around to remind of him what he has to do? Every day my husband and I have to remind him of things that should be routine.....take out the garbage Quan....clean your bathroom every weekend Quan....make sure your clothes are ironed for the week Quan.....QUan...QUAn...QUAN...all of that gets a little old.....not to mention exhausting at times! Maybe we should have a recording or place post it notes all around the house to remind him....you think that will help.......probably NOT!!!

Even after I placed the poster on his bed.....OH MY GOODNESS....I still had to remind the little boy to get his project before he came downstairs....then here's my husband....adding fuel to my simmering fire....."if you didn't remind him....he would have left the project home".....not on my watch dude.......it wasn't funny, however.....instead of blowing a gasket.....I just had to laugh to myself!

Well I didn't laugh for long because Holy Spirit quickly reminded me....."It's no different from what I do for you"! Who did I think I was....actin' like I'm so ever mindful of things......like I didn't or don't make mistakes and mess up....like my Heavenly Father doesn't have to remind me of what I've done or is doing wrong.......like He doesn't take me to His Word and reminds me of the error of my ways.....the nerve of me......"Ms. Good Little Christian"!!!! WOW!

Here are 3 Themes I found on Sermoncentral.com written by Paul Fritz regarding roles Holy Spirit takes on in the lives of Spirit filled Believers:

1. Acts 8:4-8

Theme - Holy Spirit shows His power through the reproof, correction, teaching, and training with the Scriptures.

Holy Spirit takes the Word of God and infuses into it powerful messages to its hearers. Holy Spirit miraculously changes the way we look at people. He gives us discerning eyes to see past the superficial actions of people.

2. 2 Corinthians 4:1-6
Theme - Holy Spirit’s Ministry not only involves communication skills, but confrontational ones as well.

Holy Spirit is the one who can convincingly challenge people with sin, Righteousness, and judgment. Since the devil is smarter than any man, it is futile to try to outwit him. Instead, Holy Spirit gives us the Power to overcome the devil and his tricks if we will only use it.

3. John 16:8-11
Theme - Holy Spirit acts as a Prosecuting Attorney convicting all of sin

Holy Spirit discloses to every person, their errors, shortcomings, and sins of omissions . Holy Spirit makes it clear there is gap between people’s realities and the ideals found in Christ. He points out inconsistencies between their words and their actions. By convincing the world of the Righteousness found in Christ, Holy Spirit warns people of the impending judgment awaiting those who reject the Truth. As a Prosecuting Attorney, Holy Spirit exposes incriminating evidence against everyone for wrong words, emotions, and actions. He uncovers hidden thoughts of anger, jealousy, and covetousness. Each person’s conscience is pricked in areas that are sensitive to guilt, shame, and fear of punishment.

Theme -Holy Spirits gives Christians attractive powers.

Holy Spirit controls our lives. He produces Fruits that draw others to us. By arousing interest through the Fruit of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, and Self-Control, He produces a desire in others to know Jesus Christ better. Constrained by the beauty of Jesus shining through Spirit filled Believers, thousands have come to Salvation through another’s life testimony.

People of God......just as we are to nurture.....teach and train our children in the way they should go........Holy Spirit nurtures us....trains us and corrects us if need be in the way we ought to go in The Lord......SO DON'T DESPISE THE CHASTENING OF THE LORD.....DON'T GIVE UP WHEN WE ARE REBUKED......GOD LOVES US......THAT'S WHY HE SENT HIS SON JESUS AND HOLY SPIRIT.......THEY WORK HAND IN HAND....TO MOLD US......CONFORM AND TRANSFORM US INTO THE LIKENESS OF CHRIST....DON'T DEPISE IT....JUST ENDURE IT....IF HE DIDN'T LOVE US HE'D JUST LET US STAY STUCK IN OUR MESS......WE ARE HIS CHILDREN.....WHOM HE LOVES HE CHASTENS........IT'S PROFITABLE FOR US BECAUSE IN THE END....IF WE FAINT NOT.....WE WILL YIELD THE FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS...HOLY SPIRIT IS HERE TO HELP US...HE'S HERE....HE'S HERE...HOLY SPIRIT TO THE RESCUE!!!!!

"It's Those Little Foxes That Will Mess You Up"

"Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes." The Song of Solomon 2:15

Remember the Motivation yesterday....."Don't Fall Hook....Line and Sinker"....well it's not for me to try to figure out what's going on....but what I do know is God is trying to tell us something! This morning Holy Spirit lead me straight to The Song of Solomon, Chapter 2. Now I've heard the text Scripture preached before......but thank God for commentaries because I had to dig deeper for revelation today. Now, after I read the commentary and looked up a couple of definitions....I realized 2 words which were referenced in yesterday's Motivation stood out: CRAFTY & CUNNING

Dictionary meanings:

crafty (kraf′tē, kräf′-): subtly deceitful; sly; cunning; artful: a crafty rascal

cunning (kun′iŋ): skillful in deception; sly; crafty; made or done with skill or ingenuity; attractive or pretty in a delicate way; cute

Here's what I found in "Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible" Commentary:

By foxes may be meant false teachers, to whom the false prophets of old were compared, Ezekiel 13:3; foxes are crafty and subtle creatures, malignant and mischievous, hungry and voracious, full of deceit and dissimulation, are of an ill smell, and abominably filthy; so false teachers walk in craftiness, use good words and fair speeches, and thereby deceive the hearts of the simple; their doctrines are pernicious, their heresies damnable, and they bring destruction on themselves and others; they are hungry after worldly substance, are greedy of it, and can never have enough; devour widows' houses, and make merchandise of men, to enrich themselves; they put on sheep's clothing, transform themselves into angels of light, mimic the voice of Gospel ministers, use their phrases and expressions, that they may not be easily discovered; and are abominable in their principles and practices, and to be shunned by all good men. Now ministers of the Gospel are ordered to take these, to detect them, and refute their errors, and reprove them sharply for them; and, after proper steps taken, to reject them, to cast them out of the vineyards, the churches, and keep them out.

Even the little foxes; heresies and heretics are to be nipped in the bud, before they increase to more ungodliness; otherwise errors, which may seem small at first, soon grow larger and spread themselves, and become fatal to the churches: That spoil the vines; as foxes do, by gnawing the branches, biting the bark, making bare the roots, devouring the ripe grapes, and infecting all with their noxious teeth and vicious breath (x): so false teachers make divisions and schisms in churches; disturb their peace; unsettle some, and subvert others; sap the foundation of religion, and corrupt the Word of God; and therefore by all means to be taken, and the sooner the better

People of God.....DO NOT BE DECEIVED...THE ENEMY IS DECEITFUL...SLY....CUNNING AND CRAFTY.....HE'S OUT TO DESTROY YOU BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.... IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS....THE LITTLE FOXES.....THE LITTLE LIES.....THAT HE USES TO SPOIL THE VINE....DON'T ALLOW ANYONE OR ANYTHING TO COME BETWEEN YOU.....GOD....THE BLESSED TRINITY AND AND THE BODY OF CHRIST.....CONTINUE TO STAND ON THE TRUTH YOU KNOW....AS CHRIST TOLD PETER...UPON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH...THAT ROCK IS THE TRUTH THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD......LET NO MAN FOOL YOU.....THE CHURCH HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED......ON THAT TRUTH....AND THE GATES OF HELL WILL NOT PREVAIL....THEY WILL TRY...BUT THEY WILL NOT PREVAIL......BEWARE OF FOXES...THEY COME IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING.....THEY MASK THEIR SMELLS...THEIR ODOR...BUT ONCE UNMASKED....THEY WILL REEK.....THEY ARE ROTTEN TO THE CORE.....DON'T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE POLITICS..... THAT YOU MISS OUT AND NOT HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT HAS TO SAY TO THE CHURCH....BEWARE PEOPLE....BEWARE.......IT'S THOSE LITTLE FOXES THAT WILL MESS YOU UP!!!!!

"Don't Fall Hook.....Line and Sinker"

"And when the woman saw that the tree was good (suitable, pleasant) for food and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she gave some also to her husband, and he ate. Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves apron like girdles." Genesis 3:6-7

Before I get started....I chose the pic from photobucket.com because my husband's name is James!

Now I'm sure everyone's heard or even at one time or another used the well known saying "all that glitters ain't gold".....well this morning Holy Spirit placed that in my Spirit! I thought about Adam and Eve. God specifically told Adam DO NOT eat the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17)....but did he listen....noooooo.....he allowed "that woman".....Eve to bait him...…he fell for it and ate the fruit!

Side note: My Daddy and I were discussing Genesis 3:3 in which Eve told the serpent "But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die."......what's that about? Genesis 3:1...the serpent himself said "Yea, hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden".......where in the world did Eve get not to touch? I saw nowhere in Chapter 2 or 3 where God himself said not to touch…..did Eve make that one up? Can the Bible Scholars and Ministers of The Word help me out with this one???!!!! (Email me)

Okay back to the matter at hand.....

People of God.......some things or some people might look good....but OH MY.....it or they may not be good for you!!!!!! The enemy will use whatever or whomever he can to entice.....tempt or trap you into going against God's Will!!!! When unmasked.......you will see it or them for what or who they really are…..just plain rotten to the core! The enemy is conniving....he's a schemer and as sad and bad as this may sound....there’s a possibility he will "deceive the very elect" (Matthew 24:24)…….
